Watch this video and then apply this concept to firearms, CCW, etc. Everyone and their mother wants to be a firearms instructor, a grand master in some competition (as if that makes them actually competent in reality with a firearm), and they totally skip over the vital, literally life saving information because of their passion. Get realistic about your goals, about your expectations and about your skill sets. Those people who get three X's on American idol are the same people who show up to competitions to compete and then think they'll perform in reality when the hard skills need to come out.
Do not set yourself up for failure, have reasonable expectations, understand your skill sets and passions are two completely different things.
