Get Trained.

If you have not figured it out yet, I highly recommend Bill Rapier of American Tactical Shooting Instruction for instruction in all things firearms and violence.  He is one of the best instructors in the industry right now and his classes fill up extremely quickly.  If you have not done so check out my AAR's for his classes.  It is early enough in the year that you can plan to get into one of his classes now.  Invest in your training properly.

  1. Where I live (central Iowa) there seems to be an absence of training options. The classes offered around here are focused on obtaining a CCW with little to no range options. Can you offer any advice on how I can find any better options that I may be overlooking?

    1. Then you should look into travelling to find a good instructor. This may be difficult or possibly logistically taxing but it may be your only real option to find valid training. Once you get a few classes, develop a standard you hold yourself to.

Aside from that, maybe seeing if your local gun club will host an instructor. Many instructors are looking to expand where they train and it may be worth it to host one.
