Fighting for Robin

Jackson’s MMA is raising money for Deputy Robin Hopkins who was critically injured in Albuquerque, NM during a gun battle on October 26th. On October 26th, Robin Hopkins, a deputy with the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Department in Albuquerque, NM, was responding to a call where an armed suspect ambushed police officers with a rifle and commandeered a police cruiser. A dangerous chase ensued for miles through the heart of the city with the gun battles continuing along the route. While many moved out of the path of the crazed gunman, Deputy Hopkins drove directly into the danger. As Robin sped toward the stolen police car, the suspect opened fire. In the hail of bullets, one of the rounds pierced the car, striking her leg. Losing large amounts of blood, a tourniquet was put on her leg and she was rushed to the hospital. Having endured two surgeries, Robin remains in the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.
The former Marine and current member of the New Mexico Air National Guard is known by colleagues as kind and compassionate and someone who faces challenges head on. In 2005, while working as a deputy at a middle school, she raised money to build a skate park for at-risk kids being pressured to join local gangs. To generate support for her project, she successfully ran the Boston Marathon.
Robin has dedicated her life to public service and keeping us safe. Now it’s our turn to help her. At best, her recovery will be long and expensive and insurance doesn’t cover many of the costs.
Jackson’s MMA and many of our professional and amateur fighters call Albuquerque their home. We are grateful for law enforcement’s service and sacrifice. We are asking you to donate and to help spread the word. The top donations will receive autographed gloves and apparel by Jon Jones, Carlos Condit, John Dodson and other Jackson’s fighters. Every donation is important. Our goal is to raise $10,000.00 by Thanksgiving, November 28th.
